All the pop-up boxes upon initially loading the page are really annoying
There's the massive welcome pop-up right when you open the page and then there are the additional three "tip" boxes that litter the screen, regardless of whether I've been to the site before or not. I'm constantly reminded about how I can use Octave Online in my class! or that the CLI at the bottom of my screen is the Octave Command Prompt! and that I can run script files if I sign in! Every single time I access the page. It makes it even worse that I've already seen these things, but even for a first time user it's just bad web design. It's not only unaesthetic, it can actual impede the user's ability to see the text that they actually care about behind the stupid pop-up boxes. Obviously someone who has never used something like Octave is going to need some help figuring it all out, but this is not the way you communicate these things to people. Make a tutorial or FAQ tab or something if you want. But even that might be unnecessary given the target audience of people using a mathematical programming language...they can probably figure it out on their own...Remove the pop-ups regardless

Click the "dismiss" button to make the bubbles go away. They should not appear again after clicking the "dismiss" button, except for the command prompt bubble, which disappears after entering a command. Note that this feature requires cookies; if you use a different browser or have cookies disabled, then you might see the bubbles again even after dismissing them.
