download / save the plot
For example, one may need to insert that generated plot in a powerpoint etc
I’ve changed the implementation for file downloads to a cross-browser solution. File downloads should now work consistently across all browsers (except for IE 9).

Great job!

You make a good point about browser support. When I first implemented the download feature last year I recall it working in both Firefox and Chrome. Something must have changed in a more recent version of Firefox. I will look into it.

I am using library computers, where I cannot install/upgrade software. This is actually the very point why I use Octave online!
Browsers available: Mozilla Firefox (24.5.0 : latest version), and Internet Explorer (version 8). In mozilla, which I use, that download button is silent, does nothing...The download button for files (scripts/functions) does not work either (though this is not so important as for image, as I can just select and copy the text).
Please don't take these as complaints; just letting you know.Maybe I should suggest this idea specifically for Mozilla and let people vote?

You can already download/save your plots. This was actually a feature in the original launch of Octave Online last year. In the plot window, click the little download icon in the bottom left.

Note also that this feature is very inconsistent across browsers. I recommend using Google Chrome if you would like to download your plots as images.
